After the last few years, with all that’s gone on in the world, I officially shut down McCarthy Photographic’s business last year. Although I am no longer accepting new clients, photography is an important creative outlet for me and I’ve decided to update this site to be the home for sharing my new work going forward.

My passion in photography is the human figure. Especially showing it as the artform it should be, without censorship. I never wanted my photography to turn into a job, but it did. And it wasn’t fun any more.

Since modern social media is virtually impossible to use to share my photography, I’ve decided to repurpose this site as a home to allow me to share my work, as it is intended to be presented, without censorship.

I had a conversation a few days ago with a friend who told me that there are lots of great photographers who “quit” the rat race and their work became better because they were creating for themselves and not for money or “likes” and I really hope that happens. The incredible Frank Zappa once said “…any artistic decision based on whether or not you are going to make money is not really an artistic decision. It’s a business decision” and I truly believe that.

I hope you decide to follow this page and in time. For now, I’m not selling anything, I’m just looking for a place to share my work without having to worry about social media corporations forcing me to censor or threatening me with deleting my account every time I post a censored photo that meets all of their hypocritical “Community Standards.” Currently my IG @Elegant_Boudoir is “unable to be shared” or searched or found by non-followers and engagement has dropped to almost zero. FB is even worse.

I just want to share my work.
