Maritime Pro Stock Tour Visits Scotia Speedworld for the Lockhart Trucks 150
June 24, 2013

There was a very busy pit road on Saturday for the Lockhart Trucks 150 Pro Stock race. With a field of nearly 26 cars for the pro stocks, another 24 for the Sportsman series and nearly 10 racers in the Trucks division, space was definitely at a premium. It’s nice to see all the activity and the pits area at Scotia turns into a small city during these events.

The weather was fantastic with just enough cloud cover to keep the track a little cooler for more traction and as race time approached and the sun started to set, the sky cleared and made for a spectacular sunset over the fading laps of the 150 lap feature race.

For more details of the race itself, please visit the Pro Stock tour web site or Tim’s Corner to read all the highlights. John Flemming has now won 2 of the first 3 races this year and looks like he’s on a mission.

I guess we’ll see how things go at the Lucas Oil 150 this coming weekend at Petty International Raceway in Petticodiac, NB. Hope to see you there. 🙂

Weekly Racing at Scotia Speedworld - 06/21
June 23, 2013

After another rained out event last week – and what’s up with all the rain?!?!? – we had awesome weather this Friday night for the weekly racing series.

With only four divisions racing, it made for a really short evening of racing, but the finishes were spectacular!

Kyle MacMillan and his #5 Thunder car ran away from Drew MacEachern’s #13 in the Thunder division, while Richie Moore and his #153 edged out Richard Patrick in his #141 for the Lightning division.

Cole Butcher’s #5 Legends car took the trophy for his division and Adam Meehan took his #6 Bandolero to first place over #62 Luke Ettinger.

See you at Scotia next Friday night, June 28th for Kiddie Ride night!

Riverside Speedway hosts the Ron MacGillivray Chevy Buick GMC 150
June 21, 2013

The Maritime Pro Stock Tour finally got to hit the track again after the rained out event at Petty Raceway two weeks ago this past weekend near Antigonish at Riverside International Speedway.

Although it looked like it might not happen for a little while.

Practice was fast and the cars in both the Sportsman and Pro Stock classes were fast on the track. It’s been two years since I’ve been at this track and I had forgotten exactly how fast the 3.10 mile high bank oval really was. Racing here is impressive to say the least and the track is very fan friendly.

Just as the drivers were starting to gather for the 4pm driver’s meeting, the skies opened up and we had a very intense thunderstorm that even included a spattering og hail – just for good measure. After the initial thunderstorm appeared to have knocked out the cellular data system we had difficulty trying to get to Environment Canada’s weather radar but after a nearly 2 hour rain delay, the track organizers got their jet dryer on track and the racing got underway just a little more than an hour after the scheduled green flag time. Impressive to say the least and a fantastic job by the track workers.

I’ve been travelling all week, so I need to apologize to the drivers, families and fans that the gallery has been so delayed this week. I have uploaded approximately 1100 photos from last week. After having a great time and enjoying the racing I just couldn’t cut them down any further. I hope you enjoy them.

In the end, it was an awesome finish. Donald Chisholm lead a lit of laps and John put on a hard charge at the end, and even lead a few laps, but Donald Chisholm lead the most important lap and won the race.

Fast Eddie Racewear 100 - Petty International Raceway
June 2, 2013

What a day!

It was my first visit to Petty Raceway and the facility is impressive and the racing looked to be very promising.

And then the skies opened and the thunder rolled across the sky.

Nonetheless, I still managed to take nearly 600 photos during practice by the pro stock racers as well as the Mini Stocks and Maritime League of Legends. It looked like the drivers weren’t holding anything back and I managed to get some awesome action shots on track.

Unfortunately, there was rain on Friday night as well which resulted in the weekly racers and sportsmen series being rescheduled to Sunday, making the track unavailable for a reschedule of the Pro Stock race.

So… Two more races at Petty later this summer and we’re coming up to a weekend off before heading to Riverside Speedway for June 15th.

Check out the Fast Eddie Racewear 100 gallery right here…

See you there!
