McCarthy Photographic is available for hire for many events, sporting and otherwise, featuring the capability of on-site photo booths, instant prints and more. We also offer full service on-site or in-studio commercial and industrial photography services as well as specialty photography and model workshops. We are fully insured and have up to date safety and first aid training for all our site work.
An avid photographer since junior high school and a racing fan since an early age as well, Mike has been shooting local motorcycle and stock car racing for many years. Since 2011, Mike has been the official photographer for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock and Scotia Speedworld Weekly Series stock car racing throughout Atlantic Canada.
Mike has earned many awards for his work including “New Photographer of the Year”, “Portrait Photographer of The Year”, “Best Photographic Print of the Year”, “Photojournalism Photographer of the Year”, “Photojournalism Photo of The Year” and “Creative Image of The Year” from the Photo Guild of Nova Scotia well as “1st Place Photojournalism Image” from the Photographic Society of America’s Best of the Best for 2011 and numerous placing ribbons in PSA’s international pictorial, creative and photojournalism competitions. In addition to his work with PGNS, Mike was a co-founder of the Halifax Photographic Society and has been heavily involved in the photographic community for many years.
Mike is also a member of the Model Mayhem – “The List”, which includes only top pre-qualified photographers who volunteer time to help aspiring models create a professional portfolio, having won several “Photo of The Day” competitions in both the glamour and fine art nude categories. To date, Mike has numerous magazine credits including a recent 6 page photo shoot in the American Urban Male Magazine, Platinum Plus and Maxim Magazine Online and was a contributing photographer to Andivero Magazine.
